How to make the best use of summer

We all know how overwhelming exam seasons and how soothing summer breaks can be. But, as law students knowing the level of competition the legal world holds within, we all want to stand out from others and be the best.

Here are a few ways through which one can relax and prepare for the academic year ahead as well as improve and be the best version of themselves.

# Vacation Scheme/ Internship
Vacation schemes/ Internships are a great way to explore the different fields in law. During this, one gains insights into the day of a solicitor/barrister and is also a great way to network with professionals from this field. Vacation schemes/internships help you build a strong CV and acquire transferrable skills necessary for a law student.

# Volunteership
Whether you are a student or a professional out in the legal world, the way you utilize your free time speaks a lot about your personality. Nowadays, recruiters look at an applicant's volunteer work for a sense of how they might contribute to the community as well as the legal world. There is a range of volunteer works that can help build in you a sense of responsibility as well as confidence in interacting with others. You can either volunteer through pro bono clinics set up in your law school, look upon LinkedIn for competitions that require volunteers, or volunteer at your community center or maybe an orphanage.

# Enroll for Webinars
Webinars offer something that articles or books cannot - Personal experience. Attending webinars will help you see the legal world from other's perspectives. As a law student, webinars are a great way to begin networking. Many webinars require the participants to participate in activities, this can be your light at the end of the tunnel as you can develop many soft skills that will help you interact with your clients in a better way.

Lastly, attending webinars is like an investment made for your future. This investment can never go wrong as it only keeps adding to your ocean of knowledge. Besides, you can add up the details of the webinars on your CV.

#Try on a New Hobby
Summer break is the best time to de-stress yourself from all the academic work and spend time learning or improving on a hobby. I love learning new languages and hence, I enrolled in the summer language course offered by my university. Hobbies are a great way one can utilise free time doing something productive. It is a way one can enhance life and promote wellbeing.

#Relax
We all have been through a roller coaster of emotions during exam week. Make sure to unwind and de-stress yourself. Take your time out and pamper yourself with movie/game nights or a self-care session. I can't stress how important this is. Don't skip this, as it plays a vital role in helping you build the most successful version of yourself.
